Microsoft Australia has recently announced that it is set to raise prices for its Home and Personal Office 365 subscriptions. The change will be effective from 12 October 2017. Subscriptions for Office 365 Personal edition will go up from AU$89 to AU$99 per year and the revised pricing for Office 365 Home edition, currently at AU$119 per year, is yet to be confirmed.
Microsoft have maintained constant pricing since 2013 when Office 365 was launched and this is the first price increase in 4 years.
A Microsoft Australia spokesperson confirmed the price rise to iTnews and said “Microsoft periodically assesses its pricing to ensure reasonable alignment with the needs of customers, partners and the marketplace. This price change is in response to that assessment and feedback.”
There is speculation that business subscriptions will also undergo a price increase in the coming months. If that is the case, businesses considering the move to Office 365 should act now to lock in current prices.
